Introducing the Pillar Docking System
In September, we started rolling out our Pillar Docking System pilot program in Washington, DC. We’ve installed four new Pillar charging stations, which can automatically recharge ebikes while they’re parked.
What’s new
Redesigned locking mechanism: Secure and retrieve your bike more easily thanks to our newly designed, user-friendly locking system.
Innovative technology: Pillar docks feature both solar panels and the ability to connect to the electric grid. The ability to charge ebikes while they’re parked at a dock will increase bikeshare efficiency and keep more ebikes rolling.
Kiosk-free operation: We’ve deployed docks without kiosks, where riders can undock bikes using the app or a key.
You’ll notice that “wrenching” has moved from the dock to the app, allowing you to provide detailed feedback on any issues with your bike. You can wrench a bike by unlocking and re-docking your bike after you end your trip and we’ll dispatch a mechanic to inspect it.
As we continue to roll out the Pillar Docking System at CaBi stations, we invite you to share your experiences with us at @bikeshare. Remember, not all of our newly installed Pillar docking stations in the region will charge ebikes. Your insights help us continuously improve our programs in Washington, DC and beyond.
