What a ride

Launched in September 2010 in Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Virginia, with 114 stations and 1,100 bikes, CaBi led the way as the first bikeshare system in the United States.

What started as a vision for a more connected city has blossomed into a vibrant network of riders and a beloved part of our community. Since launching, CaBi has expanded to include Montgomery County, Fairfax County, Prince George's County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, and the City of Fairfax. Today, the program is collectively owned by eight member jurisdictions who procure equipment and provide ongoing operations subsidies.

15 years of pedaling together

Today, we’re not just celebrating a birthday. We’re throwing a quinceañera! In partnership with the DC Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA), we’re thrilled to mark this milestone by honoring the spirit of joy, coming-of-age, and community that a quinceañera represents.

Over the past 15 years, you’ve used our bikes and ebikes to commute to work, meet friends for coffee, explore new neighborhoods, and see the city in a whole new way. You’ve pedaled through every season, shared countless stories, and helped us become not just a bike service, but a welcome part of your journey. This birthday is a tribute to your loyalty and to the incredible community we’ve built together.

Of course, this party is for everyone so we're extending the celebration to our riders.
